Firearms Safety Training ProgramEnrichmentFirearm Safety Training – Summer 2026 The Monticello Corp of Firearm Safety Instructors will be hosting a “Hunter Education and Firearm Safety hybrid class” in lieu of the in person Fall class that has been an area tradition since 1957. Where: Monticello Rod & Gun Club 1821 West River St Monticello, MN 55362 Date: Saturday, August 29, 2026 Time: 8:30 AM to approximately 2:30 PM There are three parts to the Hybrid Class. Part 1 - Students age 11 and older will complete a MN DNR approved on-line HEFAS course. Part 2 - Attend this in-person firearm safety hybrid class on August 29, 2026 The hybrid class includes a classroom review and firearms fundamentals session. Part 3 – Students complete the field day as part of the hybrid class. Preregistration is required. Class size is limited to 40 students. Students will be evaluated on their ability to safely handle a firearm, maintain muzzle control and to keep their finger off the trigger until they’ve identified their target, what lies beyond the target and are ready to shoot.Students demonstrating unsafe behaviors, attitudes or actions will be removed from class and asked to leave. Parents are encouraged to remain on site to observe.Parents dropping off their students are expected to return to the Rod & Gun Club if they are called to pick up their student or no later than 2:30pm. Horseback Riding Day Camp, Ages 6-15EnrichmentBoulder Pointe Equestrian Camps are on rain or shine! There is an outdoor and indoor arena. Proper attire includes a sneaker or boot (closed toe with a heel), long pants and layers depending on the weather. Bug spray, sunscreen, nut-free snacks and a water bottle are also recommended. Please bring a nut-free bagged lunch and plenty of fluids to drink. ASTM/SEI certified helmets are provided. Signed waivers are required before riding. Riding Day Camp (Ages 6-15)TIME: PARENT Drop-off is at 9am and PARENT pickup is 3pm.
