South American Masterpieces - Gr. 2-8

Grab your paintbrush and your passport, and let’s explore the beauty and wonders of South America! You’ll take a virtual tour of several countries, including Brazil, Peru, Argentina, and Colombia. There will be opportunities to learn unique facts about the people, culture, animal inhabitants, and their traditions. We will discover some new artists and use what we know about them to create new art pieces. You will have an opportunity to try many types of art, including: drawing a self-portrait, painting a toucan, building clay pots, and even making maracas or a rain stick. We will learn about “amate art” and create one of our own pieces. There will be many opportunities for using acrylic, colored pencils, water color, tissue paper, clay, and cardboard.
